The fifth World Nomad Games concluded in Astana, showcasing the rich spiritual and cultural heritage of nomadic peoples to the world. Kazakhstan emerged as the top performer in the medal standings, with a total of 43 gold, 32 silver, and 37 bronze medals. The Kyrgyz Republic secured second place with 19 gold medals, while Russia finished in third with 12 golds. Uzbekistan took fourth place with 11 gold medals, and Türkiye rounded out the top five with two gold medals. It is noteworthy that the first Nomad Games were held 10 years ago in the Kyrgyz Republic, with nearly 600 athletes from 19 countries participating. This year, around 2,500 participants from 89 countries came to Astana for the ethnosports competitions, reflecting the growing global interest in nomadic civilization and its legacy.
«The hospitality of the people. Everyone was so welcoming and warm, and kind, everyone we met was just beautiful and so nice to us, welcomed us with open arms. Kazakhstan’s hospitality is what impressed me the most,» said Justin Horn, a tourist from Australia.
«I want to express my gratitude to the Kazakh people; everything was held at a high level,» said Azim Esenbek, an athlete from the Kyrgyz Republic.
«My impressions of Kazakhstan are excellent due to the top-notch organization of the Games, including accommodation, food, transportation, volunteers, and the attitude of the people,» said Vladimir Popov, an athlete from Russia.
Notably, the sixth World Nomad Games will be held in 2026 in the Kyrgyz Republic, the birthplace of the event.
