The European Union (EU) aims to expand economic cooperation
with the Central Asian Five and Azerbaijan, emphasizing Kazakhstan’s pivotal
role in this partnership. At a press conference in Astana, Michal Labenda, Chargé d’Affaires of Embassy of Poland in Kazakhstan, and Aleška Simkić, the EU Ambassador
to Kazakhstan, outlined the priority areas of the Polish presidency of the
European Council, the EU’s highest political entity. They noted that by June
30, Poland will organize over 300 official meetings, including 22 informal
councils of EU ministers. Overall, Warsaw intends to use this period to
strengthen its position as one of the EU’s five key countries and to establish
business ties with other regions.
«Foreign policy is a crucial aspect of the European Union’s
strategy. As a major global player, the EU engages with countries worldwide,
developing tailored cooperation plans for each region. Central Asia is
certainly one of our economic priorities, with Kazakhstan, of course, playing a
leading role,» said Labenda.
