More than 800 ethnic migrants will move to Pavlodar region by the end of the year. Almost 600 of them will return to their historical homeland from Turkmenistan. Kandas people are already settling down in Aksu rural county.
“We’re getting old. I’m already 67. We came back to the homeland. Locals warmly welcomed us, we were provided with housing and assistance. Now my goal is to get a job. My grandchildren were educated in Kazakh,” said a returning migrant Yeskendirkhan Suikulov.
A pilot migration program will provide them with housing. The local authorities will help them find a job. The families will also receive assistance in the amount of about a million tenge.
“I can’t put into words how happy I am. I finally came back to my homeland. I want my children to work for a good cause, to know their history, their roots and language,” shared a kandas Oryngul Otaganova.
