Astana has become a leader in
economic development indicators. The Kazakh capital has experienced a boost in
entrepreneurial activity, with the number of small and medium-sized enterprises
(SMEs) growing by 6.5 percent over the past six months. More than 234,000
people are employed in the sector. SMEs are active across nearly all areas of
the economy. Positive dynamics are primarily observed in trade, with over
80,000 entities operating in the sector. The industry and logistics sectors
also show good results. The share of small and medium-sized businesses in the
capital’s tax revenues to the local budget accounts for half. Besides, the
sector ranks high in terms of creating new jobs.
«In the first quarter of 2024, SMEs produced
goods and provided services worth 3.3 trillion tenge. For the previous
year, this amount reached 14.7 trillion tenge, which are very good results. I
would also like to note that annual tax payments to the budget by SMEs are
increasing. In the first half of this year, the figure amounted to 1.235
trillion tenge,» said Kuanysh Kadyr, Head of the Investment and
Entrepreneurship Development Department at the Astana Mayor’s Office.
