Kazakhstan is
actively working on opening new export markets for processed agricultural
products, as announced by the country’s Agriculture Minister Aidarbek Saparov
at a government meeting in the Mazhilis, a Lower House of the Kazakh
Parliament. According to Saparov, countries such as Tajikistan, Bahrain, Qatar,
Kuwait, and Oman receive livestock and animal products under simplified
procedures. Veterinary requirements for exporting certain types of these
products to the EAEU, CIS, the European Union, the United Arab Emirates, Mongolia,
Georgia, Iran, and Saudi Arabia have been established. Also, efforts continue
to open markets for hides and by-products in China. In 2023, China lifted
restrictions on meat imports from Kazakhstan. The Kazakh Agriculture Ministry
is working on expanding the list of companies ready to supply products to
China, focusing on processed goods. Last year, Kazakhstan exported agricultural
products worth nearly $5.5 billion to foreign markets, with processed products
accounting for more than eight percent.
«Over 372 billion
tenge, including 150 billion tenge for investment purposes and 222 billion
tenge for working capital, are set to be allocated ove five years under the
Comprehensive Plan for the development of processing of agricultural products.
The plan will give a significant boost to the development of the food and
processing industries, allowing for a 1.4-fold increase in the gross production
of processed products and a growth in the share of agricultural processing,» Saparov
said.
