The eighth BAIQONYR International Short Film Festival will take place in Almaty from September 6 to 10, featuring two main competitions. Eighteen films from six countries will take part in the international one, whereas 20 movies will compete in the national format. The best works will also be selected at a special Turkic music video contest, an animation film festival, and a competition among student made movies. Out of competition, the festival will host the second forum of film experts and CIS film critics, bringing together more than 20 participants from different countries. The forum will include lectures by well-known masters, roundtables on topical issues of the film industry, and presentations of new projects. It is worthy to note that 85 filmmakers from Kazakhstan and other countries became laureates of the BAIQONYR festival in different years.
