E-commerce volumes are growing in Kazakhstan. According to the Bureau of National Statistics, the share of E-Trading in retail amounted to 4 percent. The figures increased twofold compared to the pre-pandemic year of 2019, the Ranking.kz portal reported. Overall, last year the e-commerce sales amounted to 482 billion tenge. The number of orders at marketplace websites reached 45 million, while the average bill of one retail purchase increased from 5,000 to 10,500 tenge over the year. The main online shoppers are residents of three megacities, namely Almaty, Nur-Sultan and Shymkent. Cell phones, electrical appliances and cosmetics are the most popular products to buy online among Kazakh residents.
