CIS Heads of Government Council discusses cultural and humanitarian cooperation enhancement

Kazakhstan welcomes the announcement of 2024 as the Year of Volunteer Movement in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). Kazakh Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov highlighted this during his address at the regular meeting of the CIS Heads of Government Council in Moscow. According to him, volunteers from CIS countries continue to make a significant contribution to fostering a tolerant society and promoting a culture of mercy and kindness. Moreover, Smailov urged the CIS states to start practical work on implementation of Kazakhstan’s initiative to establish an annual Volunteer Forum and give it the status of a permanent platform of the Organization. Additionally, he highlighted the notable deepening of cooperation across various sectors.

“We express our interest in continuing joint work within the CIS platform to deepen our integration ties and fill it with new practical content. The priorities outlined by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the last meeting of the Heads of State Council are designed to intensify cooperation in the CIS format. One of the key areas of joint work in the coming year will be cooperation to expand cultural and humanitarian ties, as well as cooperation in the spheres of healthcare, education, and sports,” Smailov said.

The Prime Minister also visited the Russia International Exhibition and Forum, where a collaborative project between Kazakhstan and the neighboring state was showcased - an enterprise dedicated to the production of lifting equipment within the free economic zone of the North Kazakhstan region. Other presentations included a facility for bulldozer equipment and tracked agricultural tractors, the construction of a plant for the manufacturing water and gas pipes in Kazakhstan, a plant for the production of pharmaceuticals, and the technical modernization of enrichment facilities.
