The Astana Opera Theater presented Baroque
music on the eve of the holidays. Christmas melodies by renowned Western
European composers, combined with the virtuoso performance and refined mastery
of Kazakh musicians, created an enchanting spectacle of emotions and a magical
atmosphere for the audience. The program of the musical evening featured the
theatre’s soloists, the Anima di Barocco string ensemble, and the chamber
composition of the Choral Chapel of the Kazakh National University of Arts.
According to Batyrzhan Smakov, a famous Kazakh countertenor, Christmas music is
diverse, it reflects the festive spirit and harmony, giving bright emotions and
enabling to anticipate miracles that will definitely happen these days.
“The concert is dedicated to the
global celebration, and we decided to present a colorful, beautiful and very
tender performance in anticipation of the New Year. A young composer Arsen
Zhumabayev, who has written unique music celebrating Christmas, will also take
part in the concert. The event will bring forth the famous melodies of the
Christmas holiday,” said Batyrzhan Smakov, Spokesperson for the Kazakh National
University of Arts.
“Especially for the concert, I
composed music called ‘Folie’. The Folie is an ancient Spanish folk dance based
on a constant pattern that is varied and developed,” said Arsen Zhumabayev, a composer.
