Kazakhstan’s Central Election Commission (CEC) has completed accepting party lists of candidates for deputies to the Kurultai. Seven political parties submitted their documents to the CEC. Under a mandatory requirement, women, young people, and persons with disabilities must make up at least 30% of the candidates on each party list. Authorized state bodies will now verify that the candidates meet the requirements of the Constitution. Registration of party lists will be completed on July 23, the CEC said. Meanwhile, the accreditation of international observers is ongoing, with 60 representatives from three international organizations and four countries already registered.
«Among
the international observers are four representatives from the CIS Observer
Mission, 19 from the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member States, 32
from the OSCE Election Observation Mission, two from the Republic of Maldives,
the Ambassador of Palestine to Kazakhstan, the Ambassador of Venezuela, and the
Chargé d'Affaires of
Hungary in Kazakhstan. The list will continue to expand as more applications
are received,» said CEC
Deputy Chairman Mukhtar Yerman.
