Capital City Day to be held online! The holiday beloved by Kazakhs will completely change its format this year. Events will be held in distance format, while part of them will be canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic and the threat of the spread of the new Indian strain. The festive firework will be canceled as well.
“Concerts and mass celebrations in closed spaces and concert halls are prohibited. The work of all types of outdoor rides located in the park area is also banned. It is allowed to hold events outdoors in compliance with strict quarantine measures and with the use of the Ashyq application principle of operation,” said Saltanat Muksimova, spokesperson of Nur-Sultan City Culture Department.
The city authorities urge to spend holiday weekends outdoors. For example, even the state archive of Nur-Sultan organized an open-air exhibition. Photos of landmark events in the city’s development hang right on the fences of a historic building. Any passerby can visit the exposition.
“Very interesting unique documents. The archives of the President helped us organize this exhibition, because they also have unique documents, photo and video materials, which can more clearly tell the history of Nur-Sultan to citizens, residents of our capital,” noted Meiram Bektembayev, Director of Nur-Sultan City State Archive.
According to the press service of the city’s mayoral office, the Capital City Day is planned to be held in a social direction this year. People on the waiting list for their housing will get keys of 400 apartments. The Capital Day is celebrated in Kazakhstan on July 6 – the birthday of the First President of the country Nursultan Nazarbayev.
