The women’s tennis team of
Kazakhstan is gearing up for a qualifying match against the team of Japan.
Currently in intensive training, the athletes aim to secure a spot in the final
tournament of the Billie Jean King Cup. Scheduled for April 12 and 13, these
competitions serve as qualifiers for the World Championship in Seville, Spain,
slated for November. The team comprises Yulia Putintseva, Zarina Dias, Anna
Danilina, Zhibek Kulambayeva, and Aruzhan Sagandykova. Notably, the team leader
Elena Rybakina will not compete in the Tokyo match. The coaching staff has
decided that she will skip the match to focus on preparing for the Olympic
Games in Paris, directing all efforts towards the quadrennial main event.
Leading the Kazakhstan team in Japan will be Yulia Putintseva.
“I’m always ready to step in as
the first, second, or third player if necessary, and to score points for the
team. I think we have all the chances, and we must make the most of them.
There’s a chance in every match,” said Putintseva.
“We are ready for the upcoming
match. It’s a team competition, and the athletes will give their best in
representing our country,” said Kulambayeva.
