Azerbaijani President calls Kazakhstan key partner in Caspian region

Cooperation between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan remains one of the key drivers of development in the Caspian region. This was emphasized by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev at the fourth Shusha Global Media Forum. According to him, bilateral relations are at their highest level, while close cooperation with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has contributed to the successful implementation of joint projects. Today, Astana and Baku are developing the Middle Corridor, expanding the seaports’ capacity, and coordinating efforts with Georgia and Türkiye. Projects to lay an energy cable and a fiber-optic communication line across the Caspian Sea are also underway. In addition, Kazakh oil is already being transported via Azerbaijan. Aliyev also highlighted Kazakhstan’s achievements under President Tokayev’s leadership and wished the country continued development and prosperity.

«Of course, my personal relationship with President Tokayev is an important factor in advancing bilateral cooperation and regional ties. We have a very broad agenda. As two countries located on opposite shores of the Caspian Sea, we work closely together. In fact, without active cooperation between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, implementing any transport project in the Caspian region would simply be impossible,» Aliyev said.
