Avalanches will be forecast in Kazakhstan. A snow cover
monitoring system is being implemented in East Kazakhstan Region to detect
risks and facilitate timely preventive measures. Smart avalanche sensors have
already been installed, transmitting real-time data to specialists. There are
nine avalanche-prone areas in the region, primarily in the Altai and
Katon-Karagai districts.
«This system was developed by specialists at East Kazakhstan
Technical University. It will be used to collect real-time data on weather
conditions, snow depth, and snow layer temperatures to forecast avalanche,» said
Telgat Nurakhmet, acting head of the East Kazakhstan Region branch of
Kazselezashchita.
