The Astana International Forum serves as an important
platform for inspiration, innovative ideas, and most importantly, dialogue and
the promotion of cooperation. Held in the Kazakh capital, the event marked a
step toward strengthening collaboration, exchanging experiences, and sharing
ideas in the fields of energy and innovation. This was highlighted by Kenneth
Engblom, Vice President of the Finnish company Wärtsilä.
«We are here at this forum today to meet interesting people
from different parts of the industry in Kazakhstan. We had a meeting with the
minister yesterday, the Minister of Energy and I look forward to further
discussions about Astana’s energy transition. I think Kazakhstan is on a very
good track. They have very good plans to increase the share of renewables. So I
think I was talking about 15% by 2030 and 50% by 2050,» Engblom said.
The Italians expressed interest in the opportunity of
setting up production in Kazakhstan. One of the companies, which manufactures
turbines, is already involved in the construction of the Almaty CHP-3 plant.
According to its representative, Paolo Arrighetti, Kazakhstan has created
favorable conditions for doing business.
«Our intention as Ansaldo Energia is to just grow in the
country, establishing permanent presence in the country. That’s of course is
essential to establishing trust between the enterprises and industries. So, it
has been done a great job in these decades by the Kazakhstan government in
order just to leverage its positioning in Central Asia and to be the gateway to
our nearby countries,» Arrighetti said.
