Aqyl Tech and IT-Aiel educational projects launch in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan has seen steady growth in women-led IT startups over the past two years. While there were 179 such startups in 2023, the number has already reached 300 this year. To expand women’s access to digital entrepreneurship, the IT-Aiel project has been implemented in the country for the third consecutive year. Over this time, more than 5,500 women have completed training. Experts emphasize the importance of developing digital skills among the younger generation as well. To this end, a new project, Aqyl Tech, is being launched for the first time this year. As part of this initiative, participants will be able to expand their knowledge in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. Both training programs will be conducted online.

«Aqyl Tech is a project aimed at developing smart technologies for young people, with the goal of achieving a significant technological breakthrough in Kazakhstan. The project will cover all regions of the country, and we also plan to train 100 instructors at youth resource centers so they can further educate rural youth, engage them more actively in new technological fields, and improve their financial literacy,» noted Aziza Shuzheyeva, Chair of the Board of the TechnoWomen non-profit organization.

The top three graduates of the two training programs, for which enrollment has already begun, will receive special grants from a partner company. These grants will enable them to travel in October to U.S. cities - Boston, New York, and Miami - and visit some of the world’s leading technology companies.

«We’ll be at Google, Netflix, Harvard, and MIT. We’ll take into account our students’ preferences for the companies they’d like to visit and arrange meetings accordingly. We’ll organize meetings with top managers and company owners to facilitate faster information exchange, potential partnerships, collaboration, and more. For our students, this is a good opportunity to build an international career,» said Kristina Weber, founder of the partner company of the programs.
