Kazakhstan is prioritising the development and deployment of homegrown digital solutions in cybersecurity. The initiative goes beyond data protection, focusing on advancing domestic technologies capable of safeguarding government institutions, businesses, and citizens. A key area is strengthening cyber sovereignty and transitioning to national information security products. These issues were discussed at the AntiFraud Forum Kazakhstan, an industry platform dedicated to combating fraud in the financial sector and the digital environment. Held in Astana, the forum brought together representatives of banks, fintech companies, regulators, and cybersecurity experts. Discussions centred on strengthening the resilience of financial institutions to cyber threats, implementing anti-fraud technologies, and expanding cross-sector cooperation — including with Turkic states and across Central Asia. Experts noted that the cross-border nature of cyber threats requires not only the exchange of data on cyber incidents, but also the deployment of domestic security solutions. One example is a Kazakh-developed security token that fully complies with international standards and is designed to protect both personal and corporate data.
«In security and fraud prevention, we have developed a
security token called Tautan. It looks like a small USB device and serves as an
alternative to two-factor authentication via SMS or phone calls. It is based on
the FIDO2 standard, which is currently one of the most secure approaches to key
encryption. The product will be available globally, and we have already started
distributing and selling it,» said Ruslan Turguldinov, Deputy General Director of TSARKA Group.
