From Idea to Animation. A series of master classes is taking place in Astana, organized by the creative association Qazaq Animasia with the support of the Kazakh Ministry of Culture and Information and the Kazakhfilm studio. The educational program covers all stages of creating an animated film, from storytelling and visual narrative to financial planning. Experts from Finland, Canada, France, and Armenia are participating.
«I have conducted workshops in different countries — Uzbekistan, France, Russia, and Kazakhstan. For me, any opportunity to create stories rooted in personal experiences is a true joy. I once had the chance to live in Almaty, Kazakhstan, and I grew very fond of the culture and the people. I wanted to come back and contribute something exciting and meaningful. Here we have a diverse group of participants — anyone in Astana who is interested in animation and heard about this workshop,» said Sofiya Gorya, director and instructor from France.
Special attention is given to documentary animation and to experimenting with different formats — from clay and paper techniques to 2D and 3D graphics. The organizers emphasize that the true value of the workshops lies not so much in the final result as in the process itself. It helps participants unlock their creative potential and gain valuable experience in making an animated film.
«I attended the workshop, and I had never been familiar with documentary animation before. In fact, I only became really fascinated with it three days ago, because here you can explore so many different styles — you can combine 3D and 2D, mix clay animation with paper cutouts, or blend origami with crafts or fabric. It’s all so interesting. The simpler the animation, the more quickly it reaches people’s hearts,» said 3D animator Anel Li.
The masterclasses run until October 11, and anyone
interested can take part. So far, more than a hundred people have completed the
training.
