Almaty mayor reports to Kazakh President on city’s development

More than one trillion tenge in investments have been attracted to Almaty’s fixed capital over the past nine months, as reported by the city’s mayor Yerbolat Dossayev to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. He noted that economic diversification is ongoing. The number of operating small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) in the metropolis has exceeded 360,000. By the end of the year, the sector's share in Almaty’s gross regional product (GRP) is expected to increase to 60 percent. New urban planning regulations, construction rules, and a housing renovation program have been developed and will be approved by yearend. One of the priorities of the city's development is the modernization of engineering infrastructure. In the past nine months, 219 kilometers of new water supply and water disposal networks were built in Almaty, and 27 kilometers of existing networks have been modernized. The Head of State gave a number of instructions for the development of the metropolis.
