Almaty mayor briefs President Tokayev on city’s socio-economic development

Over 1.5 trillion tenge has been invested in Almaty economy since the beginning of 2023. The total volume of investments in fixed capital increased by 20 percent, with private investments growing by 30 percent. In the first 11 months of this year, the short-term economic indicator has seen a 13 percent increase. Overall, Almaty’s economic growth is projected to reach 6.5 percent by year-end. Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received mayor of Almaty Yerbolat Dossayev, who reported on the socio-economic development of the metropolis. The Head of State was briefed on the development of the road and transport infrastructure. A total of 25 km of new roads have been built, and 200 km have been repaired in the city. Special attention is given to fulfilling the President’s instruction on greening the city. Thus, Almaty’s park areas have expanded by 400 hectares. Following the meeting, President Tokayev gave instructions to further diversify the city’s economy, attract investments, strengthen SME support measures, and develop the Almaty’s transport infrastructure.
