Almaty introduces first digital oncology treatment installation in Central Asia

Kazakhstan became the first country in Central Asia to use a digital innovative system for treating oncological diseases. The therapy employs the method of pinpoint irradiation for malignant tumors. Specialists can observe the entire procedure in real-time. The system is fully integrated with a linear accelerator, allowing precise targeting of neoplasms and automatically adjusting beam directions. This significantly reduces the risk of damaging healthy tissues. The method is applied to patients at both early and late stages of the disease. It is noteworthy that such a system is utilized in leading cancer centers worldwide.

“This enables us to administer high doses directly to the targeted tumor, without affecting healthy organ tissues. At the same time, a significant dose is directed at the cancerous tumor, destroying it, thereby increasing the duration and quality of life of our patients. It's important to note that this represents a form of artificial intelligence that assists specialists in detecting, recognizing, and precisely targeting the cancerous tumor with a high dose,” Yevgeny Ishkinin, Head of the Radiation Therapy Department at the Almaty Oncology Center, said.
