A total of 89 countries have
confirmed their participation in the fifth World Nomad Games scheduled to take
place in Astana from September 8 to 13. According to the Kazakh Ministry of
Tourism and Sports, the competition program includes 21 sports, with half being
Kazakh national sports and the rest representing various Turkic countries. The
prize fund of 253 million tenge is envisaged for team and individual standings.
For instance, the winning team in kokpar and kok boru sports will receive 10
million tenge. Gold medalists in individual sports will be awarded 500,000
tenge each. The sporting events will take place across seven sports venues in
the Kazakh capital, with the opening ceremony set to be held at the Astana
Arena stadium.
«The format, scale, and significance
of the fifth World Nomad Games deserve the opening ceremony to be held at the
country’s main sports arena. We are preparing to welcome a little over 2,000
guests, with confirmations already received from 89 states. Our preparations
are based on these figures. Besides, we anticipate around 100,000 visitors, including
international and domestic tourists,» said Nail Nurov, head of the directorate
for the preparation and organization of the fifth World Nomad Games.
