Kazakhstan plans to
complete the digitization of all textbooks by next year. According to the
country’s Ministry of Education, the current progress stands at 80 percent.
Electronic books have passed state expertise and are included in the list of
educational and methodological complexes.
“11 publishing
houses in the country were involved in the development of digital textbooks.
Teachers have been provided with methodological recommendations to adopt innovative
teaching approaches. To date, 94 percent of primary school textbooks, 81
percent of textbooks for grades 5-9, and 61 percent of textbooks for grades
10-11 have been converted into electronic format,” Mereke Nurmukhanova, Press
Secretary of the Kazakh Ministry of Education, said.
It should be noted
that along with e-books, schools actively utilize digital educational resources
with multimedia content. These resources serve as supplementary teaching
materials. More than 50,000 digital educational materials have been developed
to date. Over 6,500 Kazakh schools have been connected to these resources
since the beginning of the year. Up to three million students and teachers use
digital educational content on a daily basis, comprising over 50,000 video lessons
covering all grades.
