The year 2023 is marked by
important events for Kazakhstan. Large-scale political and economic reforms
have been carried out in the country at the initiative of Kazakh President
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Many of these instructions are nationwide, whether they
concern economy, politics, infrastructure or social issues. The Head of State
announced the majority of these directives on September 1 at the opening of the
regular parliamentary session. Plans for the near future are enshrined in the
adoption of important laws. In total, in
2023, President Tokayev signed 98 laws, 344 decrees and 91 directives, as
reported by Advisor and Press Secretary of the Kazakh President Berik Uali to
Kazinform agency. As part of the instructions of the Head of State, a law was
developed and adopted on the return of illegally withdrawn assets to the state.
As a result, about one trillion tenge has already been returned. These funds
are being invested in projects beneficial to the country, undoubtedly impacting
the welfare of the people.
In general, more than $13 billion
has been attracted to Kazakhstan’s economy over the first half of the year due
to favorable conditions created for investors and the country’s potential. The
engagement of partners occurs during international meetings attended by the Head
of State. This year, President Tokayev has participated in 268 events, making
19 foreign visits, taking part in 27 forums and summits, and meeting with 30
leaders of foreign states. During such meetings, crucial geopolitical decisions
are made, and capital-intensive agreements are signed. The Kazakh leader pays
special attention to maintaining leadership in the Central Asian region and
developing Kazakhstan as a transport and logistics hub. It is noteworthy that
significant efforts have been made in this direction. Thus, a Kazakh-Chinese
logistics center has been established in the Chinese port of Lianyungang, the Khorgos
dry port and the Western Europe-Western China international transit corridor have
been launched, a new railway corridor from China to Iran has been laid, and new
railway routes in the western and southern regions of Kazakhstan are being
built.
