The Kazakh capital is set to
celebrate its 26th anniversary on July 6 with nearly 100 festive events held
throughout the summer. For instance, the Creative Summer project will feature
entertainment programs for children, performances by creative groups, and flash
mobs in the metropolis every weekend until August 31. One of the major events
will be the OPEN AIR concert at the Expo site on July 6, where prominent Kazakh
artists are expected to delight residents and guests of Astana. Additionally, the
Day of the Kazakh Capital will involve a series of large-scale mass
participation sports events, including «Zhasaiber, zhaina - Astanam!» cycling
race, «Tolagai» national tournaments and «Kazakhstan barysy» Kazakh wrestling,
equestrian competitions, «Elorda Kubogi» baiga, as well as «El zhuregi -
Astana!» race. Notably, the Kazakh capital’s population currently amounts to about
1.5 million people. Astana is a popular tourist destination, with over 1.3
million visitors coming to the city last year.
