The work of a Kazakh astrophotographer entered the top list of the 35AWARDS international contest. This year, more than 1,600 artists from 118 countries took part in the creative competition. They submitted over 3,000 photographs to the jury. At the end of the month long mini-competition, the work ‘Iron Edelweiss’ by Yevgeny Bondar from Karagandy became one of the best. He first tried his hand in this contest two years ago and now it has become a tradition. The amateur astronomer started taking photographs in 2016. After purchasing a telescope, he wanted to capture the beauty of the stars and the sky and share it with others. According to Bondar, he likes to work in the genre of ‘astrolandscape’ photography as it makes a great aesthetic impression on the audience. He plans to continue participating in specialized photo contests, and to capture as many amazing places of Kazakhstan as possible.
“Iron Edelweiss’ is an observatory built in Turgen. It was built according to the type of flower listed in the Red Data Book that grows on this tableland. I mean the observatory has the shape of this flower. I would like to visit several beautiful places in Akmola and Karagandy regions. There are also very beautiful landscapes near Almaty,” the photographer said.
