Kazakhstan set to increase exports to China by $1.6 billion

Kazakhstan is set to increase its exports to China by $1.6 billion across 180 product items. This includes high-value-added products in the metallurgical, petrochemical, food, machinery, and construction sectors, as noted by Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov during talks with Premier Li Qiang of the State Council of China. The parties discussed the actively expanding trade and economic cooperation. Over the past nine months, trade volume between the two countries reached $33 billion. Notably, mutual trade in the agricultural sector grew by nearly six percent. In this regard, the parties discussed the possibility of accrediting new domestic industrial enterprises to enter the Chinese market. The logistics sector also holds significant prospects. In container transportation, transit shipments along the «China – Europe – China» route increased 24 times due to the opening of Kazakhstan’s logistics center in Xi’an. Additionally, transportation volumes along the Middle Corridor during the same period surpassed last year’s total by 23 percent, reaching 3.5 million tonnes. By 2030, plans are in place to increase cargo volumes to 10 million tonnes per year.

«China is Kazakhstan’s largest trading partner. Last year, trade turnover grew by 32 percent. In line with the task set at the highest level, we aim to double mutual trade figures in the near future. The history of Kazakhstan-China relations is based on friendship and mutual trust. We will continue to deepen our comprehensive strategic partnership, encompassing various sectors,» Bektenov said.

«China and Kazakhstan are long-standing friendly neighbors; we are connected by a common border of over 1,700 kilometers. Over the 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, our countries have built mutually beneficial cooperation based on good neighborliness, friendship, respect, and equality. Under the strategic leadership of the Heads of State, our relations have gained new momentum in recent years, achieving a high level of stable and comprehensive strategic partnership,» Li said.
