In anticipation of the
celebration of Kazakhstan’s Independence Day, the Turan ethno-folk ensemble
performed a concert in Washington, D.C. This marks their second U.S. trip this year.
Musical art enthusiasts in the U.S. are captivated by the enchanting sounds of
traditional Kazakh instruments and the ancient art of throat singing, presented
in a contemporary interpretation by the ensemble. Opera singers Aigerim
Altynbek and Rassul Zharmagambetov, along with the renowned pianist Dina
Mirmanova, also graced the stage at Lisner Auditorium.
“It wasn’t my first time. I've
been to other get-togethers like this and performances. So, yes, it was very
interesting. I really liked the entire performance with different instruments,
yes, I loved it,” said spectator Nauryz Lester Chelman.
“It’s my first time experiencing
Kazakh music and Kazakh culture, and I feel more informed. I really liked it; I
really enjoyed it. And the music is fantastic, all of them,” shared spectator
Delon Judano.
