Unique desserts
inspired by natural landmarks have been created for tourists in Kazakhstan.
Now, visitors can not only admire the famous Zhumbaktas Rock but also taste it.
Renowned Spanish chocolatier and pastry chef Hans Ovando has crafted a dessert
named after the mysterious stone. Before designing this culinary masterpiece,
the chef visited the Shchuchinsk-Burabai resort area, where he learned about
the history of its iconic landmark, spoke with local residents, and explored
traditional ingredients. According to him, this dessert has become a symbol of
respect for Kazakhstan’s unique natural heritage.
«She decided to
invite me to Burabai to know all the histories and all the legends about
Zhumbaktas. And finally, well, we decided to create a version of cake. It’s a
Kazakh symbol and it’s something many people from different countries are going
to visit and it’s a lot of mysteries, legends and fairy-tales around
Zhumbaktas. So I think it’s a good idea to develop a cake about that,» Ovando
shared.
The initiative to
combine cuisine and tourism comes from representatives of Kazakh businesses.
Their idea has been supported by the Kazakh Tourism national company. According
to them, this format will help promote sustainable tourism, foster a respectful
attitude toward tourist sites, and raise awareness about the importance of
their preservation.
«Imagine guests
arriving in Astana, trying this dessert, learning about it, and then planning
the next part of their journey to Burabai. In fact, many business visitors and
tourists come to Astana, and they could combine their trip with a visit to
Burabai. These two tourist destinations are actually very convenient in terms
of logistics and joint development,» said Kazakh Tourism Acting Chairman Daniyel
Serzhanuly.
