TIACA forum discusses development of Kazakhstan’s transport and logistics potential

At the Regional Forum on Cargo Transportation and Logistics in Astana, over 300 specialists from 30 countries are discussing topics such as multimodal logistics, the creation of cargo aviation hubs, opportunities of e-commerce, and digitalization of air freight. The forum participants, including representatives of relevant ministries, the International Air Cargo Association (TIACA), aviation and logistics companies, airports, and freight forwarders, are involved in the entire air cargo transportation chain. According to experts, this opens up new opportunities such as the growth of Kazakhstan’s trade turnover with Central Asian states nearly 2.5 times, from $6.3 billion to $15 billion, including a $560 million increase in Kazakh exports. The long-term goal is to integrate Kazakhstan into international freight logistics chains and strengthen its position as a crucial transport hub on the Eurasian continent.

«Kazakhstan is geographically located at the crossroads of transit routes. This contributes to the development of our economy, providing a significant boost to our gross domestic product, the task set by the Head of State. We have plans to establish free zones at airports, following the example of airports in Dubai, Singapore, and others. This includes digitizing customs processes to expedite clearance times from days to hours. These combined factors provide opportunities for our economic growth,» said Talgat Lastayev, Kazakh Vice Minister of Transport.
