Supreme Council for Reforms

Levelling the consequences of the geopolitical situation. This topic became the main one at the meeting of the Supreme Council for Reforms attended by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. An emergency anti-crisis team established by the Government should simulate different scenarios of the situation and work out a unified plan for further actions. The analysis will show which of the businesspeople need support, if necessary. The Head of State also instructed to help certain groups of citizens. It is also necessary to revise the state budget for this year, the President highlighted.

For example, due to a 1.3-fold increase in the mineral extraction tax rate, the budget will receive additional 300 billion tenge (US$601.3 million). The tax on the profits of foreign companies and miners will be also increased. Control over the withdrawal of capital abroad will continue. The meeting participants also discussed the improvement of the investment policy and the reform of the Samruk-Kazyna fund.
