Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a series of meetings with
the heads of major Chinese companies during his official visit to China. Thus, the
Head of State discussed the implementation of joint investment projects in the petrochemical
and energy sectors with Chairman of the Board of SINOPEC Ma Yongsheng. The
company intends to start construction of a polyethylene plant in the second
half of 2024 as well as to build a complex for the production of terephthalic
acid and polyethylene terephthalate in the city of Atyrau.
At the meeting with a Chinese express delivery
logistics operator President Tokayev talked about partnerships in e-commerce
and transport and logistics. The company intends to open a Central Asian
headquarters in Kazakhstan as well as to build high-tech multimodal centers of
class A in a number of regions of the country. This will ensure the prompt
processing of goods with access to the EU, EAEU and Central Asian markets.
Afterward, the Head of State spoke with Zhu
Hexin, the chairman of the board of CITIC Group. The parties talked
about strengthening partnership relations in the energy sector and other areas.
Mechanical engineering and railway transport
were the main topics of conversation between the Kazakh President and Chairman
and Executive Director of CRRC Corporation Limited Sun Yongcai. The Head
of State noted that Kazakhstan is interested in the deep localization of
locomotive production with the application of advanced technologies and the
creation of service centers for railway equipment.
30 documents for $17 billion signed in Beijing
It bears noting that Kazakhstan and China signed
30 documents on economic cooperation for nearly $17 billion as part of the
official visit of President Tokayev to China. Among them are investment
and trade agreements as well as agreements on the technology transfer for
production and the opening of credit lines.
