President of Kazakhstan holds talks with Pope Francis

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held talks with Pope Francis via videoconference. The parties discussed the prospects for strengthening cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Vatican, as well as issues of promoting interfaith harmony and interreligious dialogue. Special emphasis was made on the agenda of the upcoming 7th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions. It will be held in September in the capital of Kazakhstan. Pope Francis confirmed his official visit to the country, as well as his participation in the 7th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions. President Tokayev noted that the event is of great importance for Kazakhstan. He informed the interlocutor about Kazakhstan’s model of interfaith harmony and unity.
