Kazakh school
students have earned around 210 medals, including 22 gold, 65 silver, and 121
bronze, at international subject Olympiads since the start of the year.
Students from the country’s secondary schools are demonstrating their knowledge
in seven highly prestigious intellectual competitions in biology, chemistry,
mathematics, physics, computer science, geography and linguistics. Recently,
Kazakh schoolchildren have returned victorious from Japan, where the national
team participated in the international Olympiad in physics and mathematics. In
the latter, they secured two silver and four bronze medals. Additionally,
Kazakh school students have also been awarded prizes at the International
Biology Olympiad held in the United Arab Emirates.
“Four participants
took part in the International Olympiad. These were the children who
successfully passed the selection process. This year, all of them won medals, two
silver and two bronze. The children say that they’ve benefited a lot from our
training camps, held in the leading educational institutions,” Gulsara Mukash,
spokesperson for the Daryn National Scientific and Practical Center, said.
Kazakh students
have four more Olympiads ahead this year. They will compete with other students
from around the world in the fields of chemistry, geography, computer science,
and linguistics. The competitions will take place in Switzerland, Indonesia,
Hungary and Bulgaria.
“If we look at the
statistics for the last three years, for example, in 2022, 31 school students
from Kazakhstan participated in international subject Olympiads, where they won
27 medals. In 2021, the same number of students brought home 26 awards of
different merits. And this year, 31 schoolchildren will also travel abroad to
participate in international competitions. There are four more Olympiads ahead,
and I believe that we will be able to showcase our abilities and win medals
there as well. Moreover, our students actively participate and represent
Kazakhstan in various other international competitions!” Nurlan Zhumakeldy,
Deputy Director of the Daryn National Scientific and Practical Center, said.
According to
experts, victories in international Olympiads are a testament to the
competitiveness and quality of the national education system. In turn, the
winners gain access to the country’s top universities, enabling them to
leverage cutting-edge technologies and acquire new knowledge.
