In the near future, the Mangystau region may become an international tourist hub. Both Kazakh and international tourists will be able to enjoy a beautiful vacation on the Caspian coast. The region has not only unique nature, but is also rich in ancient sacred objects, as well as archaeological sites. New flights connecting Mangystau with foreign countries can be launched already in 2022. The issue was discussed by representatives of international tour operators from the Middle East, Uzbekistan, Russia, Germany and Georgia at a meeting in Aktau.
“We are ready to offer our citizens tours to Aktau within the visa-free regime. We have already assessed the presentation of this region. What we need to do now is to open flights. We count on the support of Kazakh airlines. I think that this will happen in the near future. This summer season will show how the influx of tourists will be,” said Ali Alkhamis, a manager of Kuwait Travel Company.
“Overall, the scope of tourist offers in Mangystau is quite diverse. Therefore, in this regard, we comply with all standards. The only difficulty that everyone talked about is a limited number of flights to neighboring cities and countries. For example, large Turkish tour operators said that it is very important to launch direct flights from Germany to Aktau. Also, it will be very important for Aktau if we succeed and open a visa-free regime for Iranian citizens. Because the flight takes less than an hour. And Iran is indeed a very serious big rich market,” said Yerzhan Yerkinbayev, Vice-Minister of Culture and Sports.
