Citizens and visitors to Almaty can contribute their ideas to the life improvement of the largest metropolis in Kazakhstan. The authorities organized an urban study. By the means of a survey, they intend to conduct an analysis of opinions and proposals for improving the city’s infrastructure. The survey is supposed to cover about 20,000 people. Those who wish to take part in it need to scan a QR-code located on LED screens, bus stops and public transport of Almaty. The questionnaire consists of 43 questions. It was developed by AlmatyGenplan research institute and the Institute of Applied Urbanism with the support of city administration. Based on the received data, adjustments will be made to the general layout of the metropolis.
“The questiomare contains questions on mobility and how the residents of Almaty move, questions about commercial and cultural functions, income, how to improve the territory in one part or another. There are also questions where we ask Almaty`s citizens, if they are ready to participate in the implementation of projects. All development projects worldwide start with these studies. It is very difficult to make decisions without these data. This is a kind of a database that will allow us to respond to any questions that arise in the city,” said Askhat Saduov, Head of AlmatyGenplan Scientific Research Institute.
