More private investors enter Kazakhstan’s stock market

The number of private investors in Kazakhstan’s stock market increased. In October, over 8,000 individuals opened personal accounts with the Central Securities Depository. In general, since the beginning of this year, almost it accounted to 73,500, which is three times more than in 2020. From November 15, it is planned to open trades in foreign securities in the new sector of KASE Global. The initial set of tools will include US stocks. Securities of 27 world-famous companies will be available in total. Experts believe that the sale of shares that are in demand on the international market could attract even more investors.

“It is very important for us to increase the number of investors on the market, including retail investors, as much as possible. Other investors who will come, too, taking into account the fact that the liquidity in the market is growing as well as the activity of investors. Our ultimate goal, of course, is to help companies in Kazakhstan enter the market and more freely attract financing, both through IPOs and through debt securities by attracting investors, providing them with a wider trading toolkit,” said Natalya Khoroshevskaya, Deputy Chairperson of Kazakhstan Stock Exchange.
