Support for volunteering and charity activity - Kazakhstan is developing a roadmap for the development of volunteering until 2023. Currently, the Kazakh government reviews the document. It will provide legal, methodological and informational support tools for the volunteer movement, experts say. Also, this year, a separate bill will be drafted aimed at improving these mechanisms. It covers a wide range of issues, for example, volunteering may be counted as the main work experience. In addition, it is planned to add separate optional classes including the basics of volunteer movement in the university curriculum.
“A lot of work is being carried out by the Mayor’s Office to support volunteers. Also ‘Jas Otan’ youth organization in Nur-Sultan, whenever possible, helps to find patrons for the implementation of the volunteers’ ideas. They are given the opportunity to enter higher and vocational education institutions on a free basis. Similar support measures are provided in all regions of the country,” said Bakdaulet Zhandildayev, chairperson, Nur-Sultan Branch of ‘Jas Otan’ Youth Organization.
To date, there are more than 600 volunteer organizations in Kazakhstan, and the number of permanent volunteers has reached almost 200,000. Their activities during the pandemic helped more than a million of Kazakh residents in need.
