Kazakh dog breeds of Tazy and Tobet will come under state protection. The corresponding bill on their preservation was approved by the members of Mazhilis, the Lower House of the Kazakh Parliament. The document provides for the establishment of a national center of Kazakh dog breeds at a specialized organization of the authorized body. Its core competencies will include keeping a unified genealogy book of dogs, defining the concept of cynological activity, certificates of the origin and the standards of the Kazakh dog breeds, as well as the national hunting regulations. The center will be funded by the state. Public associations working in this area will receive the state social mandate to promote activities in this direction.
“The draft law also provides for the research standards in the field of Kazakh dog preservation and breeding, which will be carried out by Kazakhstan’s research institutions. The latter together with the authorized body, the national center, as well as public associations engaged in cynological activities, are developing state scientific and technical programs in the field of Kazakh dog preservation and breeding. 1.4 billion tenge will be required to implement the norms of the bill,” Mazhilisman Amerkhan Rakhimzhanov said.
