Kazakhstan is set to join the global network for the
exchange of biological materials. The Senate, an Upper House of the Kazakh
Parliament, has approved the ratification of the relevant agreement. The
document will allow the country’s national research institutions to gain access
to unique samples and conduct joint examinations with the world's leading
laboratories. The main condition is that the biomaterial must not be used for
commercial purposes. The recipient may use it solely for diagnostic,
monitoring, and research works in laboratories with an appropriate protection
system. Furthermore, the recipient is required to inform the supplier of the
outcomes. Thus, the document creates a legal basis for the effective and safe
exchange of biological materials and contributes to improving the quality of scientific
developments.
«The agreement aims to enhance the effectiveness
of preventing the spread of infectious animal diseases. Specifically, it
provides for joint measures by the parties to prevent, detect, and suppress the
spread of particularly dangerous diseases. We hope that the approved law will
contribute to the further development of cooperation between the participating
countries in the field of veterinary medicine,» said Maulen Ashimbayev,
Chairperson of the Senate, the Upper House of the Kazakh Parliament.
