Kazakhstan ramps up agricultural product exports

Kazakhstan has increased exports of agricultural products. According to the country’s Ministry of Agriculture, there has been a five percent growth over the course of six months, amounting to over $2.7 billion. Among these exports, crop production accounted for over $1.5 billion, while livestock production reached $80 million. Exports of processed agricultural goods totalled over $1 billion in the first half of the year. The TOP-5 exported products include flour, sunflower oil, flax seeds, barley and wheat. The latter is also being exported to the Chinese market, with the first shipment of just under 1,500 tonnes sent to Shandong Province. It bears noting that Shandong ranks as the fourth province in terms of trade volume with Kazakhstan, following the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR), Beijing and Gansu. Last year, the trade turnover amounted to $2 billion. The country aims to increase its annual grain shipments to one million tonnes, as well as to export chilled meat products to China.
