Kazakhstan is preparing another
batch of humanitarian aid for quake-hit Afghanistan. Thus, additional aid will
be delivered by railway transport. It should be noted that tents and medicines have
been recently delivered to the Herat province by the National Guard aircraft. Representatives
of the Afghanistan Earthquake Response Headquarters received humanitarian aid and
expressed gratitude to Kazakhstan.
“Firstly, we would like to thank the people of
Kazakhstan, the country’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who provided
assistance to us in this difficult time. After accepting humanitarian
aid, a special commission will discuss and decide where it will be sent. Now we
are burying the dead and providing first aid to the injured. If there are any more
affected, we are ready to assist them as well. This morning at 5 a.m. local
time, another earthquake was recorded in the area where Kazakh rescuers are engaged
in search and rescue efforts,” said Garhwal Abdul Sattar, spokesperson for the Earthquake Response Headquarters in Afghanistan.
Kazakh rescuers have already dismantled 76
sites with rubbles from destroyed houses in the Naibrofi district. Besides,
employees of the Disaster Medicine Center provided medical assistance to local
residents. It is noteworthy that an operational and rescue team of the Kazakh Emergencies
Ministry has been deployed to Afghanistan. The 45-member team, all with prior
experience in such operations, is equipped with the necessary gear for search
efforts. The team includes canine handlers, medical workers and paramedics from
the Disaster Medicine Center.
