Kazakhstan, OTS countries strengthen cooperation in healthcare sector

Kazakhstan is set to join forces with the Turkic countries in training personnel, biosafety, and providing emergency medical care. Memorandums of understanding and cooperation were signed during the fifth meeting of the Health Ministers of the OTS member states in Astana. At the initiative of the Kazakh side, an action plan for 2025-2026 was also developed. Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov held a meeting with the ministers and Hans Kluge, WHO Regional Director for Europe. The parties emphasized the importance of the cooperation agreement for 2025-2030 between Kazakhstan and the Organization.

«By the end of 2024, investments in Kazakhstan’s healthcare sector increased by 8.4%, reaching about $920 million, with one-third coming from the private sector. The World Health Organization has provided significant support in our efforts. As a result of systematic joint work, including through technical and expert assistance, there has been a reduction in the incidence of respiratory and circulatory system diseases, as well as in mortality rates,» Bektenov noted.
