Kazakhstan mulls harsher penalties for disclosure of personal data

Kazakhstan may increase the punishment for public disclosure of personal data. This amendment is provided for in the new Concept of the Digital Ecosystem Development for 2022-2027. Kazakh Ministry of Digital Development has already published it on the Open Legal Acts website.

“Considering the long-term consequences of such offenses for the victims who suffered the moral and material damage, we consider the two-month expiration of the statute of limitations provided for in Article 62, paragraph one of the Administrative Offenses Code insufficient,” the concept says.

Public discussions of this issue on the website will end on September 5 of this year.
