In response to the scale of the
flooding and its consequences, the Kazakhstan Khalkyna fund decided to double
its assistance for those affected by the disaster, increasing the amount to 10
billion tenge. These funds are planned to be used for housing construction. The
fund has been accepting donations from Kazakh citizens since April 1. Almost a
billion tenge has already been collected, which will also be allocated for
housing construction projects. Over 430 new housing units will be constructed
in total.
“The fund has reserves of 10
billion tenge for such emergency situations. Apart from this, all donations from
indifferent people seeking to assist the flood victims will also be utilized. Around
one billion tenge, collected within nine days, is expected to increase by April
30,” said Kazakhstan Khalkyna Fund’s Official Spokesperson Marat
Mukhamedsaliyev.
