Kazakhstan gets ready for Beijing 2022 Olympics

The uniform of the Kazakhstan national team for the Beijing 2022 Olympics was unveiled. For the first time in the Kazakh history, it featured the country name in Kazakh language. In an exclusive interview to Qazaq TV, the press secretary of the National Olympic Committee Aigerim Toxanbek noted that the main experts in tailoring were the athletes themselves. They had the last word. Work on the creation of uniforms for athletes lasted more than a year.

“It is worth noting that when developing models of sports uniforms, experts proceeded from the opinions of the athletes themselves. All this is because each outfit is sewn individually for each athlete. All comments and suggestions were taken into account, the costumes were sewn to be stylish, and, at the same time, to make the athletes feel free and comfortable during training, as well as during their performance in various sports at the Olympic Games,” the press secretary said.

The National Olympic Committee spokesperson stressed that now the athletes are conducting final preparations before the big competitions. Given the rapid spread of the new coronavirus variant, the training takes place in two cities – the capital and Almaty. This decision was made in order to prevent infection and preserve the health of athletes.

“I'd like to note that despite the fact that the athletes are placed in quarantine, they keep training. In the city of Nur-Sultan, skaters train in the short track at the Alau ice rink. In Almaty, several national teams also continue training in quarantine. There are mainly ski teams in Almaty,” Aigerim Toxanbek noted.

The Kazakh team will go to China for the competition on January 27. The Winter Olympic Games will start on February 4. 109 sets of medals will be awarded.
