Kazakhstan is opening new markets for meat exports. Last year, as a result of negotiations, 16 veterinary certificates were agreed upon and signed. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, this opened opportunities for supplying products to 42 countries, including the EU, the UK, China, Iran, the U.S., and Canada. Notably, in 2024, exports of all types of meat totaled 82,000 tonnes. By the end of the first 11 months of 2025, exports exceeded 91,000 tonnes, which is a quarter more than during the same period of the previous year. Beef and lamb showed the highest growth rates. The bulk of these supplies goes to Uzbekistan, while lamb is also actively exported to the Persian Gulf countries, including the UAE, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia. Overall, the country plans to double its meat export volumes by 2030, bringing them up to 165,000 tonnes.
«This year, access to the markets of eight more countries is expected to be opened. We are currently working with Europe on horse meat. As for China, we plan to open exports of slaughter by-products and poultry meat. We also intend to export domestically produced meat to Pakistan, including beef and lamb. Work is also underway with Türkiye,» noted Kazakh Vice Minister of Agriculture Amangaliy Berdalin.
The relevant ministry notes that further growth in
exports in 2026 is planned through government support for farmers, expanded
processing capacity, and access to new foreign markets. In addition, modern
digital technologies are being actively applied in the sector, significantly
reducing losses. For example, livestock farming makes use of ear tagging and
smart collars. AI enables the monitoring of animal health, helping to prevent
diseases and streamline herd management. According to the Ministry, these
measures directly contribute to herd growth and the sustainable development of
farming enterprises.
