Kazakhstan is ready to export its eGov system to Mongolia, Minister of Digital Development Zhaslan Madiyev announced at the first meeting of the Kazakh-Mongolian Business Council in Ulaanbaatar. He noted that the e-government project will enable Mongolia to leverage Kazakhstan’s developments in digital public services, with over 90% of services already provided online. Madiyev highlighted Kazakhstan’s successful Astana Hub international technopark and its strategy of establishing IT hubs abroad. He emphasized that digital technology exports today occupy a special place in Kazakhstan’s development strategy and open up new horizons for cooperation and innovation.
«Promoting digitalization and the export of digital products is a key priority for us. Mongolia is proactively developing its own digitalization, especially e-government products, and we see valuable opportunities for collaboration. We can share our acceleration programs with them,» Madiyev said.
Trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Mongolia continues to grow each year. Last year, mutual trade reached $133 million, and in the first eight months of 2024, it totaled $84 million, largely driven by Kazakhstan’s exports of food products, engines, and engineering goods. In return, Kazakhstan imports railway cars, building materials, meat, and textiles from Mongolia. Now, the two countries aim to boost mutual trade to $500 million, with significant potential to achieve this goal.
«It is very strategically important for Mongolian business to develop economic ties with Kazakhstan, as it is our closest third neighbor, especially in transportation and logistics,» shared Duuren Tumenjargal, CEO of the Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
«Mongolia is a global leader in copper and gold mining, with extensive experience in the field. The country is keen on investing in a joint venture in Kazakhstan, one of the six key agreements to be signed. Additionally, the countries are set to collaborate in tourism, with plans to build a $5 million tourist facility in the Talgar district,» noted Gabidulla Ospankulov, Chairman of the Investment Committee at the Kazakh Foreign Ministry.
Following the first meeting of the Kazakh-Mongolian Business Council, the countries agreed to implement a number of major investment projects.
