Kazakhstan adds new ‘dark red’ zone to map of COVID-19 spread

Kazakhstan has introduced a new classification of quarantine zones. This is stated in the new decree of the country’s Chief State Sanitary Doctor Yerlan Kiyassov. A ‘dark red’ zone has now been added to the ‘green’, ‘yellow’ and ‘red’ zones for COVID-19. It will include regions with the highest risk level of infection. It will also include those cities and regions where the infectious bed occupancy rate exceeds 70 percent. In addition, in the new decree, Kiyassov announced the introduction of another concept of ‘The Ashyq Leader’. These are businesses with a large number of visitor registrations, which guarantees additional privileges, such as the extension of opening hours and increase of the facility’s occupancy rate by 10 percent.
