Kazakh Prime Minister meets with farmers

The volume of preferential lending to farmers has increased to 700 billion tenge.  The Kazakh Prime Minister discussed support measures for agricultural producers, alongside the progress of spring fieldwork, with representatives from the domestic agricultural sector today. The prospect of doubling agricultural production within five years was also considered — the task set by the Head of State at the National Kurultai (Congress) meeting. Agricultural producers are currently receiving state support. Financing for leasing agricultural machinery at 5% has increased to 200 billion tenge. Moreover, the equipment itself can be used as collateral, and investment subsidies may serve as a form of payment. Similar support tools are being developed for feedlots. The Ministry of Agriculture is also set to review the system of subsidizing selection and breeding activities.

«The President consistently emphasizes the importance of paying attention to agriculture, as it is crucial for food security — a value that will always remain enduring. These existing mechanisms will continue, and we hope they will have a significant impact, leading to a competitive agricultural sector,» said Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov.

«This is a new record for preferential lending for spring field and harvesting works, although previous financing did not exceed 140 billion tenge,» noted Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov.
